Well, Captain Mikael Fabian is finished and below are a few pictures. It's a miniature I've had for a while (bought from a friend). He's had a weapon swap for a plasma pistol. The banner was out of my bits box.
I've gone for a fairly simple paint job, aiming at a reasonable tabletop quality. A spray undercoat/basecoat with Army Painter Ultramarine Blue, a blue wash and a recoat of Ultramarine Blue. The cloak is Citadel Kantor Blue, with highlights and a glaze of Citadel Guilliman Blue. The banner has red trim (basecoat: Citadel Mephiston Red/layer: Vallejo Game Colour Gory Red) - he is the captain of the Third Company after all! I freehanded on the Ultramarines Chapter symbol - it really is easy freehand work and well worth doing. Not a big fan of decals.
This model was also my first attempt at Non-Metallic Metals. The silver-coloured metal of the plasma pistol did not turn out that well. Not enough contrast. However, I am pleased with the tabletop-quality NMM gold. It's quick, simple and very effective. When I get chance, I'll post up a quick tutorial.
